How to be Basic
As an ordinary person, I want to share how I manage myself for being basic. Nobody is perfect and everyone has their own way how to grow and manage theirselves. Being minimalist doesn't define that you're very perfectionist in everything. It's about doing something minimal and having a system in every work. Aside from being organized and practical, I keep myself just to be undecorated and minimal at the same time.
In order to be a basic person, there are things you need to consider: discipline, self control and motivate. But first, you need to ask yourself, HOW.
Let me help you to tackle these things and enlighten you with the ideas and tips and encourage you to be more basic in everything.
Decluttering
Photos, clothes, old electronics, shoes and bags. These are the top 5 items that is very strenuous to let go. Getting rid of things is actually really difficult to do and theres a lot of things that may hold you back such as sentimental value, the cost you put on it and things you may use it in the future.
Tip: Filtering of your old things is a great way of improving yourself and reflecting on how you shop and what you can do to slow down how you consume. You learn to appreciate on what you've purchased and know how to use it.
Organizing
Having a system in place for the things you own, categorizing and giving section for it, having full awareness and visibility of what you own and where they belong.
Tip: It takes time and practice but its part of helping yourself evolving and constantly changing.
Cleaning
My favourite thing to do every week is cleaning my things. I post this (not to brag or something) but I just want to share how I take care of my items especially my gadgets. Since most of these I use everyday, heres how I maintain neat & clean.
For Electronics and wires
1. I use alcohol and cotton to sanitize and I don't use any special cleaning products for my gadgets.
11. I put my wired earphone and phone connector in a small wallet because that's how I take care of my things and so they don't get dirty.
111. For choosing color, I just like color black because it wont get dirty easily and I don't need to keep changing it.
For Bags & shoes
1. I use dry cloth and I keep them it on a dust bag individually with silica gel inside. It really helps to preserve and protect the item from humidity.
For clothes
1. The way I organized my clothes is by different category: by use and by color (dark to light).
11. I changed the way how I keep my clothes in the drawers, from stack folding to file folding. It really made a big difference especially it gives less mess, visibility and accessibility.
111. Always check the the label of how to wash it properly so it won't get damage.
Tip: It really makes a difference if you take care of your items, because it will lasts longer, you don't need to change your things that often and it will gonna look brand new.
In my own opinion, it doesn't have to buy from expensive brands. It still depends on your budget and how you will use it.
"Needs over Wants"
If you take care of your items, you don't need to keep buying and you can be practical as possible. Quality doesn't matter as long as you know how to handle your things properly.

As somebody who is very much about non-cluttering and living by the "havent-used-it-in-1-year-throw-it-away"-principle I feel like I've been neglecting the things I /have/ been keeping around.
